Born in Toronto, Dr. Amy Gordon moved to Pittsburgh as a young child and grew up in nearby Thornburg, Pa. She attended Sewickley Academy and Princeton University. Dr. Gordon graduated cum laude from Princeton with an A.B. Degree in Psychology in 1984. After completing medical school at Cleveland’s Case Western University in 1989, Dr. Gordon moved to Baltimore to begin her training in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She served as a medical intern and resident from 1989-92 and later was chosen as Chief Resident from 1992-93.
For the past 28 years, Dr Gordon served as clinician and educator at the Johns Hopkins faculty in General Internal Medicine. Dr. Gordon is fortunate to have had wonderful mentors and colleagues as well as diverse, challenging and rewarding patients. She has enjoyed her teaching responsibilities, particularly serving as course director for the Introduction to Clinical Medicine course and the Health Care Disparities course in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Gordon also served on the medical school admissions committee for eight years. Though she has found teaching, developing and mentoring medical professionals enriching, working with patients is what Dr. Gordon cherishes.
Dr. Gordon remains a part-time faculty member in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and still teaches each week at the Internal Medicine Clinic. She is on staff at Johns Hopkins Hospital and collaborates with Hopkins colleagues.
When not in the office, Dr. Gordon enjoys spending time with her three children and two golden retrievers. The family enjoys hiking, skiing, biking, tennis, music, art and community activities.
